How do I cast a voice over?

How does casting a voice over work at Voicebooking?article_full@1x

Our database is varied, clear and limited. Thanks to our filter options, you will find t
he voices that match your project in just a few steps. We have divided our voice over into two databases:

  • Pre-selected
  • Extended

What are the differences between the voices from the different databases?

All our voice overs are cast based on quality. That means more than ju

st a good voice. They all have experience with scripts and have strong communicative skills. In other words, they all have a mix of the qualities necessary for working together remotely. Besides that, there are some differences.

Pre-selected voice overs

We offer a great variety of male and female voices, as well as different types of voices in different languages. It features movie trailer voices, but also more natural voices. Think of ‘girl next door’.

We have agreements with our pre-selected voice over about fees and delivery times. They all work remotely from a professional studio, often a home studio. A pre-selected voice over is a guarantee for good quality, quick delivery and a fixed fee.

Extended voice overs

Are you looking for a voice with a specific sound? E.g. that raw, edgy voice? Or a specific local accent? Then we have thousands more voices for you in our extended database.

With the voices in our extended database, we do not have an agreement on fixed fees and delivery times. It can be that they  do not have a home studio to work from. For every booking, we make a custom agreement with these voice overs on fees and delivery.

How do I know what type of voice I am looking for?

Before you start casting, you should know what you are looking for. Try answering questions such as ‘Who is this video meant for?’, ‘What kind of video is it?’ and ‘What is the purpose of my video?’

For example, if you are producing an explainer video, it works best with a voice that grabs your attention. Someone who can turn nothing into something. Someone who is able to switch tones or is able to be slightly funny and then suddenly very serious.

A suitable voice for e-learning is something else entirely. These types of videos can typically last 30 minutes. Your voice over needs to be able to communicate dry information in a way that still holds tension. Like a good teacher, the voice over also needs to make the audience continue to listen. They need the X-factor! And more importantly, you might want to book a voice over with plenty of experience. This decreases the chance of retakes, something you do not have the time for with a 30 minute script. That is why you want to work with a voice over with the smallest margin for error possible: a real professional!

How do I cast the right voice over myself?

Doing your own casting is easy at Voicebooking. Thanks to our filter options, you will find the voices that match your project in just a few steps.

You can filter language and gender, as well as tone of voice, fee, home studio and experience. You can also choose which database you would like your voice over to be from.

Depending on your filters, a few voices will remain as your search result. Listen to their demos, request a test sample or  chat  with the voice over directly.

Have you made your decision? Then you can brief and book your voice over.

Can Voicebooking take care of the casting for me?

Yes, we can! Sometimes you need a little extra help going through  our database, or you might have an unusual question or a special request. We are here to help you out. Are you too busy and would you rather leave the casting entirely to us? We can do that too, of course.
